Step into Your Dream Cabin
Some cabins feel like cabins. A Northwood Premium Lofted Cabin feels like an upgrade the second you lay eyes on it.
From the outside, you’ll notice the difference right away. These buildings are true full width, meaning a 16-wide Premium Lofted Cabin is exactly 16 feet from wall to wall—compared to just 15′ 2″ on our standard model. That’s an extra 10 inches of usable space across the entire structure, not to mention the 10-inch overhangs on each side for added protection and presence.
The included 4-foot front porch keeps that classic cabin charm intact, perfect for a rocking chair, coffee mug, or your favorite Alaskan view. Or upgrade to the optional corner porch and stretch that outdoor living space even further.
Step inside and breathe—literally. Vented soffits run beneath the eaves, allowing continuous airflow under the roofline. Up top, a ridge cap vent keeps things cooler in summer and drier all winter. Together, they help prevent condensation and extend the life of your building.
The interior features 7′ 10″ sidewalls and an open layout designed for flexibility—sleep space, work space, off-grid hideaway—it’s your call. You still get all the strength of our standard construction: 3/4″ CDX plywood flooring over 16″ on-center floor joists, 2×4 stud walls on most widths, and upgraded 2×6 studs in 16-wide models. (2×6 Upgrades are available on all other sizes as well.)
But Premium also means better protection. The siding is Duratemp, known for its 50-year lifespan and sharp, clean finish. Want something more refined? Upgrade to lap siding for a look that stands out.
Add a metal roof for just 8% more if you want long-term durability with a sleek modern edge.
And of course, our Finish Out Prep Package comes included. You’ve got the solid shell; now it’s ready for your insulation, electrical, and personal touches—whether you’re going for a weekend cabin, guesthouse, or tiny home.
Here’s the wall-to-wall breakdown:
-
10-wide Premium = 10′ 0″ (vs. 9′ 8″ standard)
-
12-wide Premium = 12′ 0″ (vs. 11′ 2″ standard)
-
14-wide Premium = 14′ 0″ (vs. 13′ 2″ standard)
-
16-wide Premium = 16′ 0″ (vs. 15′ 2″ standard)
Each one gives you 10 inches more building width than the standard version.
Built right here in Sterling, Alaska, the Northwood Premium Cabin isn’t just a step up—it’s a solid leap into longer-lasting, better-ventilated, more weather-resistant space you can count on.
